Teaser Tuesdays — One Plus One/ Buzz Books 2014 Spring/Summer

Teaser Tuesday

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share a few “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

My teaser for the week comes from One Plus One by Jojo Moyes (Me Before You, The Last Letter From Your Lover). This book doesn’t actually release until July 1, but you can read an excerpt in Buzz Books 2014: Spring/Summer. This Buzz Books sampler boasts ‘exclusive excerpts from 40 top new titles.’ It’s a great way to find out about upcoming releases and update your to-read list. By reading an excerpt from these books, you’re able to better predict which ones you’ll like and which are worth spending your hard-earned money on! Even better, it’s free! Get it on amazon here.

“And then every so often you got a nice client like Lisa Ritter; you popped over to vacuum her floors and came away with a diamond earring and a whole load of knowledge you could really have done without.”

Here’s the book description:

One single mom. One chaotic family. One quirky stranger. One irresistible love story from the New York Times bestselling author of Me Before You

American audiences have fallen in love with Jojo Moyes. Ever since she debuted Stateside she has captivated readers and reviewers alike, and hit the New York Times bestseller list with the word-of-mouth sensation Me Before You. Now, with One Plus One, she’s written another contemporary opposites-attract love story.

Suppose your life sucks. A lot. Your husband has done a vanishing act, your teenage stepson is being bullied, and your math whiz daughter has a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that you can’t afford to pay for. That’s Jess’s life in a nutshell—until an unexpected knight in shining armor offers to rescue them. Only Jess’s knight turns out to be Geeky Ed, the obnoxious tech millionaire whose vacation home she happens to clean. But Ed has big problems of his own, and driving the dysfunctional family to the Math Olympiad feels like his first unselfish act in ages . . . maybe ever.

One Plus One is Jojo Moyes at her astounding best. You’ll laugh, you’ll weep, and when you flip the last page, you’ll want to start all over again. And the story begins again today, half a world away, when an elderly Italian man shows up on a movie studio’s back lot-searching for the mysterious woman he last saw at his hotel decades earlier.
